Meet the four

Cap’n Jack
Little Gem
Midnight
Princess
I’m pleased to introduce you to all four of our foster kittens. Cap’n Jack, aka Captain Jack Sparrow, is a handsome fellow, and very sweet. He is starting to feel ok with humans, and that petting might be worth getting used to. Little Gem is just that. She is a plain old black kitten, a little scruffy looking – but she is a stealer of hearts. She has the most endearing personality, and is quite brave and curious. She has found humans interesting and appealing right from the beginning. Midnight is beautiful. She’s somewhat shy, but coming around. Princess is very shy, but a lovely and playful kitten.
Two more kittens

The first two fluffballs were joined by two more siblings. Both are mostly black, but in quite different ways. One is long-haired and has lighter streaks and patches that will probably disappear as he/she grows to adulthood. The other has white on her throat and in a couple of spots on her abdomen, but she’s short-haired – or maybe her fur will end up medium length.

Later in the day, the shorthaired one demonstrated that she was really quite comfortable with people. We could pet her and she’d arch up into it. She was also the boldest of all the kittens, and the longer-haired black one would follow her lead – to a point.
It was feather toys that really brought them out, and eventually they would even come out when I was in the cage with them. Progress!
New foster kitties arrived last night!

We have a new family of foster kitties! It’s always so exciting to meet new kitties and figure out what personalities they have and how I can best help them.
This will ultimately be a family of mom and four babies. We have mom + two so far. The other two kittens will be captured – we hope – today and brought to be reunited.
The kittens are probably close to 8 weeks old, and eating canned food. They are so cute! They are little long-haired fluffballs with pretty markings.

Mom, by contrast, is a black shorthair with wild and beautiful eyes. She is very stressed at being moved to a strange place – I wish I could explain all the good things in her future. But I don’t think she started life as a feral cat. She sniffed my finger without running away, which is a good sign.
Better pics coming soon!
All kitties adopted
All our recent, special family of foster kitties have been adopted, and our family is down to our own three cats.
These guys were special. I’ll never forget Sylvie and her family – Coda, Mia, Gemma, Smoke – and their favorite Uncle Tex. Read their story in the posts below.
It’s kitten season out there, so we’ll be getting more foster kitties soon. There are so many kitties without homes, and we love being a small part of all the good work done by 9 Lives Rescue.
Stay tuned to find out who our next furry friends will be!
