Cats on the loose!
The kitties have a big room, with the kittens in the “Jiro Palace” in one corner. But both adults really love being with people. Even though we visit them to play, snuggle, and feed them – at least two or three times a day – they get lonely. Honestly, I’ve seldom known cats that love being with people this much!
They can’t come out into most of the house, because there would be conflict with our cats. But we can let them down the hall as far as George’s study, so they can keep each other company, and they can “help” him work. That’s what we did today.
Tex was beside himself! He was so excited to have a hall to race down, and two new rooms to explore! He ran up and down, talked to the house cats under the door, and helped rearrange some things in George’s study. He was a big help with the typing, or at least deleting. I’m not sure how much work George got done today!
Kitten names
I am so excited that people have found this blog helpful in getting to know these cats and kittens – and several people have applied to adopt kittens when they are old enough! I’m looking forward to working with these adopters to choose their kitties as they grow up.
I was hoping to include the adopters in choosing names for their kittens – but it will be some time before choices are made – and the kittens need names! So I’ve decided to give them my own names. These are “working names” can be kept or changed later.
I’ve written little bios of each kitten, by name, here. This will be updated as they grow, and I’ll be adding photos too. Meet the kittens!
Kittens in the litterbox
The kittens are less than a month old, and today one of them used the litterbox like she’d been doing it for years. Smoke may not be the strongest or biggest, but her instincts put her at the top of her class! She had: 1) never been in a litterbox before, and 2) never peed before like a grownup cat.
Mama Sylvie sat near the litterbox and all the kittens got pretty excited, and three of them went into the litterbox for the first time. They hadn’t been big or strong enough yet to get over the sides. Mia and Gemma just went in and climbed back out again, but Smoke could tell by smell what she was supposed to do – so she did. I love dogs as well, but this sure beats housebreaking puppies!
Twinkletoes needs a name
Introducing “Twinkletoes” – who really needs a better name than that! Of the two little black kittens, she is slightly darker than her sister. She has a white spot on her chest, and one on her lower abdomen, AND she has white back toes! So cute!
Do you know how hard it is to capture tiny white toes on camera? This morning she was playing with all four feet in the air, so I tried. She’s pretty cute, but my first attempts were not successful.

Success! Not the ideal photograph, but you can definitely see the white on her right, back toes, and also the white on her left, back foot.
Who has a better idea for a name?
